¹² Then Samuel ^(A)took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it ^[a]Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

¹⁷ Then his return was to ^(A)Ramah, for his house was there, and there he judged Israel; and he ^(B)built there an altar to the Lord.

²⁵ David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. ^(A)Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel.

^8 (A)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ^(B)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and ^(C)purify your hearts, you ^(D)double-minded.
