1 Samuel 8:18-20
The Voice
18 One day you will cry for mercy from the Eternal One to save you from this king you have chosen for yourselves, but be assured, He will not hear you on that day.
People of Israel (ignoring Samuel): 19 We have decided that we will have a king who will rule over us 20 so that we will be like all other nations and will have someone to judge us and to lead us into battle.
1 Samuel 8:18-20
New International Version
18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer(A) you in that day.(B)”
19 But the people refused(C) to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want(D) a king(E) over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations,(F) with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”
