1 Samuel 8:7-9
New American Standard Bible 1995
7 The Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for (A)they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them. 8 Like all the deeds which they have done since the day that I brought them up from Egypt even to this day—in that they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. 9 Now then, listen to their voice; (B)however, you shall solemnly [a]warn them and tell them of (C)the [b]procedure of the king who will reign over them.”

New International Version
7 And the Lord told him: “Listen(A) to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected,(B) but they have rejected me as their king.(C) 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking(D) me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know(E) what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”
