1 Thessalonians 2:11-13
International Standard Version
11 You know very well that we treated each of you the way a father treats[a] his children. 12 We comforted and encouraged you, urging you to live in a manner worthy of God, who calls[b] you into his kingdom and glory.
How the Thessalonians Welcomed the Gospel
13 Here is another reason why we constantly give thanks to God: When you received God’s word, which you heard from us, you did not accept it as the word of humans but for what it really is—the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

New International Version
11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,(A) 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy(B) of God, who calls(C) you into his kingdom and glory.
13 And we also thank God continually(D) because, when you received the word of God,(E) which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.
