The sending of Timothy

So, when it got to the point that we couldn’t bear it any longer, Silvanus and I decided to remain in Athens by ourselves, and we sent Timothy—our brother, and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of the Messiah—so that he could strengthen you and bring comfort to your faith, so that you wouldn’t be pulled off course by these sufferings. You yourselves know, don’t you, that this is what we are bound to face.

So when we could stand it no longer,(A) we thought it best to be left by ourselves in Athens.(B) We sent Timothy,(C) who is our brother and co-worker(D) in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ,(E) to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that no one would be unsettled by these trials.(F) For you know quite well that we are destined for them.(G)
