For when we were at you, we before-said to you, that we should suffer tribulations; as [and] it is done, and ye know.

Therefore I Paul, no longer abiding [not sustaining more], sent to know your faith, lest peradventure he that tempteth [shall] tempt you, and your travail be made vain [and our travail be made vain].

so that no one would be unsettled by these trials.(A) For you know quite well that we are destined for them.(B) In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.(C) For this reason, when I could stand it no longer,(D) I sent to find out about your faith.(E) I was afraid that in some way the tempter(F) had tempted you and that our labors might have been in vain.(G)
