¹¹ and to make it your ambition ^(A)to lead a quiet life and ^(B)attend to your own business and ^(C)work with your hands, just as we commanded you,

⁸ nor did we ^(A)eat ^[a]anyone’s bread ^[b]without paying for it, but with ^(B)labor and hardship we kept ^(C)working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;

¹¹ For we hear that some among you are ^(A)leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like ^(B)busybodies. ¹² Now such persons we command and ^(C)exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to ^(D)work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread. ¹³ But as for you, ^(E)brethren, ^(F)do not grow weary of doing good.

¹⁴ If anyone does not obey our ^[a]instruction ^[b](G)in this letter, take special note of that person ^[c](H)and do not associate with him, so that he will be ^(I)put to shame. ¹⁵ Yet ^(J)do not regard him as an enemy, but ^[d](K)admonish him as a ^(L)brother.

¹⁶ Now ^(M)may the Lord of peace ^(N)Himself continually grant you peace in every ^[e]circumstance. ^(O)The Lord be with you all!

^17 [f]I, Paul, write this greeting ^(P)with my own hand, and this is a distinguishing mark in every letter; this is the way I write. ^18 (Q)The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

^8 (A)This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I ^(B)want you to speak confidently, so that those who have ^(C)believed God will be careful to ^(D)engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men.

^14 (A)Our people must also learn to ^(B)engage in good ^[a]deeds to meet ^(C)pressing needs, so that they will not be ^(D)unfruitful.
