4 or to consider fables and endless genealogies (which breed questions rather than godly edifying, which is by faith).
5 For the purpose of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience, and faith without hypocrisy.
6 Some have erred from such things and have turned to mindless twaddle.

4 or to devote themselves to myths(A) and endless genealogies.(B) Such things promote controversial speculations(C) rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith. 5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart(D) and a good conscience(E) and a sincere faith.(F) 6 Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk.
