6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may (A)become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by (B)outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into (C)a snare of the devil.

8 (D)Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued,[a] (E)not addicted to much wine, (F)not greedy for dishonest gain.

6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited(A) and fall under the same judgment(B) as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders,(C) so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.(D)
8 In the same way, deacons[a](E) are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine,(F) and not pursuing dishonest gain.
