  1. 1 Chronicles 1:28 Abraham is not only the founder of the Israelite people but from him and from his son Isaac come other peoples, brothers and sisters of Israel (hostile brethren in many instances). Recalled here, as secondary branches, are the Ishmaelites and the Edomites, and a short history of the latter is sketched.
