7 Therefore, having these promises, ^(A)beloved, ^(B)let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

¹⁹ All this time ^[a]you have been thinking that we are defending ourselves to you. Actually, ^(A)it is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ; and ^(B)all for building you up, ^(C)beloved.

^11 (A)Beloved, ^(B)I urge you as ^(C)foreigners and strangers to abstain from ^(D)fleshly lusts, which wage ^(E)war against the soul.

Purpose of This Letter

3 ^(A)Beloved, this is now the second letter I am writing to you in which I am ^(B)stirring up your sincere mind by way of a reminder,

^7 (A)Beloved, I am ^(B)not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had ^(C)from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard.

^3 (A)Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our ^(B)common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you ^(C)contend earnestly for ^(D)the faith that was once for all time ^(E)handed down to ^(F)the ^[a]saints.
