²⁵ In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.”

⁶ But as it is, Christ has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is more excellent [than the old Levitical priestly ministry], for He is the Mediator (Arbiter) of a better covenant [uniting God and man], which has been enacted and rests on better promises.

²⁸ Anyone who has ignored and set aside the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.^{(A) 29} How much greater punishment do you think he will deserve who has rejected and trampled under foot the Son of God, and has considered unclean and common the blood of the covenant that ^[a]sanctified him, and has insulted the Spirit of grace [who imparts the unmerited favor and blessing of God]?^(B)
