^4 (A)In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and ^[a]I with you in spirit, ^(B)with the power of our Lord Jesus, ⁵ I have decided ^[b]to ^(C)turn such a person over to ^(D)Satan for the destruction of his ^[c]body, so that his spirit may be saved on ^(E)the day of the ^[d]Lord.

^6 (F)Your boasting is not good. ^(G)Do you not know that ^(H)a little ^[e]leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? ⁷ Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our ^(I)Passover also has been sacrificed. ⁸ Therefore let’s celebrate the feast, ^(J)not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

⁹ I wrote to you in my letter ^(K)not to associate with sexually immoral people; ¹⁰ I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with ^(L)idolaters, for then you would have to leave the world. ¹¹ But ^[f]actually, I ^[g]wrote to you not to associate ^[h]with any so-called ^(M)brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or a greedy person, or ^(N)an idolater, or is verbally abusive, or habitually drunk, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a person. ¹² For what business of mine is it to judge ^(O)outsiders? ^(P)Do you not judge those who are within the church? ¹³ But those who are outside, God ^[i]judges. ^(Q)Remove the evil person from among yourselves.

¹¹ For behold what earnestness this very thing, this ^[a]godly sorrow, has produced in you: what vindication of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what ^(A)longing, what zeal, what ^(B)punishment of wrong! In everything you ^(C)demonstrated yourselves to be innocent in the matter.
