³ Take with you 10 loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey,^(A) and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the boy.”

¹⁵ Then Naaman and his whole company went back to the man of God, stood before him, and declared, “I know there’s no God in the whole world except in Israel.^(A) Therefore, please accept a gift^(B) from your servant.”

⁸ So the king said to Hazael,^(A) “Take a gift^(B) with you and go meet the man of God. Inquire of the Lord through him, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”^(C)

⁹ Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him a gift: 40 camel-loads of all kinds of goods from Damascus. When he came and stood before him, he said, “Your son,^(D) Ben-hadad king of Aram, has sent me to ask you, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

¹⁹ You profane Me in front of My people for handfuls of barley^(A) and scraps of bread; you kill those who should not die and spare those who should not live, when you lie to My people, who listen to lies.
