^27 (A)So Solomon expelled Abiathar from being priest to the Lord, thus fulfilling ^(B)the word of the Lord that he had spoken concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

^11 (A)And the ark of God was captured, ^(B)and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

¹⁸ As soon as he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell over backwards ^(A)from his seat by the side of the gate, and his neck was broken and he died, for the man was old and heavy. He had judged Israel for forty years.

²⁰ And about the time of her death the women attending her said to her, ^(A)“Do not be afraid, for you have borne a son.” But she did not answer or pay attention.

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, ^(A)and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod. ¹⁹ And Nob, the city of the priests, he put to the sword; ^(B)both man and woman, child and infant, ox, donkey and sheep, he put to the sword.
