⁴⁷ There was then no king^(A) in Edom; a provincial governor ruled.

²⁷ Then he took his firstborn^(A) son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall. The fury against Israel was great; they withdrew and returned to their own land.

⁸ In the time of Jehoram, Edom^(A) rebelled against Judah and set up its own king. ⁹ So Jehoram went there with his officers and all his chariots.
