⁹ He will guard the feet^(A) of his faithful servants,^(B)
    but the wicked will be silenced in the place of darkness.^(C)

“It is not by strength^(D) that one prevails;

³⁰ that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity,^(A)
    that they are delivered from^[a] the day of wrath?^(B)

²⁸ You, Lord, keep my lamp^(A) burning;
    my God turns my darkness into light.^(B)

¹⁹ But you crushed^(A) us and made us a haunt for jackals;^(B)
    you covered us over with deep darkness.^(C)

⁵ “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.^(A)
    They walk about in darkness;^(B)
    all the foundations^(C) of the earth are shaken.
