⁷ And the Lord told him: “Listen^(A) to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected,^(B) but they have rejected me as their king.^{(C) 8} As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking^(D) me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you.

¹³ The Lord warned^(A) Israel and Judah through all his prophets and seers:^(B) “Turn from your evil ways.^(C) Observe my commands and decrees, in accordance with the entire Law that I commanded your ancestors to obey and that I delivered to you through my servants the prophets.”^(D)

¹⁴ But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked^(E) as their ancestors, who did not trust in the Lord their God.
