2 Chronicles 32:2-4
Good News Translation
2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib intended to attack Jerusalem also, 3-4 he and his officials decided to cut off the supply of water outside the city in order to keep the Assyrians from having any water when they got near Jerusalem. The officials led a large number of people out and stopped up all the springs, so that no more water flowed out of them.

New International Version
2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to wage war against Jerusalem,(A) 3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him. 4 They gathered a large group of people who blocked all the springs(B) and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings[a] of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” they said.
