2 Then Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he had set his face to make war on Jerusalem, 3 and he took counsel with his commanders and his warriors to stop up the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him. 4 So many people gathered (A)and stopped up all the springs and (B)the stream which flowed in the midst of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?”

2 When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come and that he intended to wage war against Jerusalem,(A) 3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him. 4 They gathered a large group of people who blocked all the springs(B) and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings[a] of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” they said.
