30 Hezekiah stopped up the upper outlet of the Gihon springs and diverted them down to the western side of the City of David. He prospered in everything he did.

Hezekiah’s Heart is Tested by God

31 Later on, envoys came from the princes of Babylon to inquire about the miracle that had happened in the land.[a] God left Hezekiah[b] to himself, so that he might make known[c] what was really in Hezekiah’s[d] heart. 32 Now the rest of Hezekiah’s accomplishments and his faithful deeds are recorded in the vision of Amoz’s son Isaiah the prophet, and in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

30 It was Hezekiah who blocked(A) the upper outlet of the Gihon(B) spring and channeled(C) the water down to the west side of the City of David. He succeeded in everything he undertook. 31 But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon(D) to ask him about the miraculous sign(E) that had occurred in the land, God left him to test(F) him and to know everything that was in his heart.

32 The other events of Hezekiah’s reign and his acts of devotion are written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
