18 I will establish your royal throne, as I promised your father David: You will never fail to have a man ruling in Israel.(A)

19 However, if you turn away and abandon my statutes and my commands that I have set before you and if you go and serve other gods and bow in worship to them,(B) 20 then I will uproot Israel from the soil that I gave them, and this temple that I have sanctified for my name I will banish from my presence;(C) I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples.(D)

18 I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted(A) with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor(B) to rule over Israel.’(C)

19 “But if you[a] turn away(D) and forsake(E) the decrees and commands I have given you[b] and go off to serve other gods and worship them, 20 then I will uproot(F) Israel from my land,(G) which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule(H) among all peoples.
