2 Corinthians 1:6-8
Revised Geneva Translation
6 And if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is wrought in the enduring of the same sufferings that we also suffer. Or, if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope is steadfast concerning you, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you also be of the consolation.
8 For brothers, we would not have you be ignorant of our affliction, which came to us in Asia; how we were pressed beyond measure, passing strength, so that we utterly despaired, even of life.

New International Version
6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation;(A) if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings,(B) so also you share in our comfort.
8 We do not want you to be uninformed,(C) brothers and sisters,[a] about the troubles we experienced(D) in the province of Asia.(E) We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.
