2 Corinthians 12:6-8
Holman Christian Standard Bible
6 For if I want to boast, I will not be a fool, because I will be telling the truth.(A) But I will spare you, so that no one can credit me with something beyond what he sees in me or hears from me, 7 especially because of the extraordinary revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh(B) was given to me, a messenger[a] of Satan(C) to torment me so I would not exalt myself. 8 Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away from me.

New International Version
6 Even if I should choose to boast,(A) I would not be a fool,(B) because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say, 7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations.(C) Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh,(D) a messenger of Satan,(E) to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.(F)
