Good News Translation

⁶^(A)The God who said, “Out of darkness the light shall shine!” is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God's glory shining in the face of Christ.

⁷Yet we who have this spiritual treasure are like common clay pots, in order to show that the supreme power belongs to God, not to us. ⁸We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair;

⁶For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”^[a]^(A) made his light shine in our hearts^(B) to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.^(C)

⁷But we have this treasure in jars of clay^(D) to show that this all-surpassing power is from God^(E) and not from us. ⁸We are hard pressed on every side,^(F) but not crushed; perplexed,^(G) but not in despair;
