(A)Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist.[a] Look to yourselves that you[b] do not lose what we worked for but may receive a full recompense. (B)Anyone who is so “progressive”[c] as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.

The author affirms that fellowship with God may be gained only by holding to the complete doctrine of Jesus Christ (1 Jn 2:22–23; 4:2; 5:5–6).

I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ(A) as coming in the flesh,(B) have gone out into the world.(C) Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.(D) Watch out that you do not lose what we[a] have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.(E) Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ(F) does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.(G)
