14 Now Elisha [a]became sick with the illness of which he was to die. So Joash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over [b]him and said, “(A)My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” 15 And Elisha said to him, “Take a bow and arrows.” So he [c]took a bow and arrows.

13 Jehoash rested with his ancestors, and Jeroboam(A) succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Now Elisha had been suffering from the illness from which he died. Jehoash king of Israel went down to see him and wept over him. “My father! My father!” he cried. “The chariots(B) and horsemen of Israel!”

15 Elisha said, “Get a bow and some arrows,”(C) and he did so.
