But he did not put the sons of [a]the murderers to death, in [b]obedience to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, as the Lord commanded, saying, “(A)The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, nor the sons be put to death for the fathers; but (B)each shall be put to death for his own sin.”

He [c]killed ten thousand of the Edomites in (C)the Valley of Salt, and took (D)Sela by war, and named it (E)Joktheel, as it is to this day.

(F)Then Amaziah sent messengers to [d]Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “(G)Come, let’s face each other in combat.”

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, with the challenge: “Come, let us face each other in battle.”
