²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel, ^[a]Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria ^(A)came and took ^(B)Ijon, Abel Beth Maachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he ^(C)carried them captive to Assyria.

⁹ So the king of Assyria heeded him; for the king of Assyria went up against ^(A)Damascus and ^(B)took it, carried its people captive to ^(C)Kir, and killed Rezin.

^6 (A)In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria and ^(B)carried Israel away to Assyria, ^(C)and placed them in Halah and by the Habor, the River of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

Assyria Resettles Samaria

^24 (A)Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, ^(B)Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities.

²⁶ So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of ^(A)Pul king of Assyria, that is, ^(B)Tiglath-Pileser^[a] king of Assyria. He carried the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh into captivity. He took them to ^(C)Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan to this day.
