10 Elijah said, “You have asked a hard thing. But if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be given to you. But if not, it will not be so.” 11 As they went on and talked, a war-wagon of fire and horses of fire came between them. And Elijah went up by a wind-storm to heaven. 12 Elisha saw it and cried out, “My father, my father, the war-wagon of Israel and its horsemen!” And he saw Elijah no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.

11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire(A) and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven(B) in a whirlwind.(C) 12 Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots(D) and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore(E) it in two.
