16 “Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, (A)I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants—all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read— 17 (B)because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke Me to anger with all the works of their hands. Therefore My wrath shall be aroused against this place and shall not be quenched.’ ” ’ 18 But as for (C)the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, in this manner you shall speak to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Concerning the words which you have heard— 19 because your (D)heart was tender, and you (E)humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become (F)a desolation and (G)a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the Lord.

16 ‘This is what the Lord says: I am going to bring disaster(A) on this place and its people, according to everything written in the book(B) the king of Judah has read. 17 Because they have forsaken(C) me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all the idols their hands have made,[a] my anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched.’ 18 Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire(D) of the Lord, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard: 19 Because your heart was responsive and you humbled(E) yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse[b](F) and be laid waste(G)—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.

19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the Lord.

4 Then (A)the city wall was broken through, and all the men of war fled at night by way of the gate between two walls, which was by the king’s garden, even though the Chaldeans were still encamped all around against the city. And (B)the king[a] went by way of the [b]plain. 5 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king, and they overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his army was scattered from him. 6 So they took the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon (C)at Riblah, and they pronounced judgment on him. 7 Then they killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, (D)put[c] out the eyes of Zedekiah, bound him with bronze fetters, and took him to Babylon.
8 And in the fifth month, (E)on the seventh day of the month (which was (F)the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), (G)Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 9 (H)He burned the house of the Lord (I)and the king’s house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, (J)he burned with fire. 10 And all the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of the guard (K)broke down the walls of Jerusalem all around.
11 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive (L)the rest of the people who remained in the city and the defectors who had deserted to the king of Babylon, with the rest of the multitude.

4 Then the city wall was broken through,(A) and the whole army fled at night through the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden, though the Babylonians[a] were surrounding(B) the city. They fled toward the Arabah,[b] 5 but the Babylonian[c] army pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his soldiers were separated from him and scattered,(C) 6 and he was captured.(D)
He was taken to the king of Babylon at Riblah,(E) where sentence was pronounced on him. 7 They killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes. Then they put out his eyes, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon.(F)
8 On the seventh day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard, an official of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 9 He set fire(G) to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.(H) 10 The whole Babylonian army under the commander of the imperial guard broke down the walls(I) around Jerusalem. 11 Nebuzaradan the commander of the guard carried into exile(J) the people who remained in the city, along with the rest of the populace and those who had deserted to the king of Babylon.(K)

5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
8 And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
9 And he burnt the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
11 Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away.
