13 The high places which were before Jerusalem, which were on the right of (A)the mount of destruction which Solomon the king of Israel had built for (B)Ashtoreth the abomination of the Sidonians, and for (C)Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the sons of Ammon, the king defiled. 14 (D)He broke in pieces the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherim and (E)filled their places with human bones.

15 Furthermore, (F)the altar that was at Bethel and the (G)high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, had made, even that altar and the high place he broke down. Then he [a](H)demolished its stones, ground them to dust, and burned the Asherah.

13 The king also desecrated the high places that were east of Jerusalem on the south of the Hill of Corruption—the ones Solomon(A) king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the vile goddess of the Sidonians, for Chemosh the vile god of Moab, and for Molek the detestable(B) god of the people of Ammon.(C) 14 Josiah smashed(D) the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles and covered the sites with human bones.(E)

15 Even the altar(F) at Bethel, the high place made by Jeroboam(G) son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin—even that altar and high place he demolished. He burned the high place and ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole also.
