³ On the ninth day of the fourth month ^(A)the famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land.

God Will Remove the Leaders

⁹ “My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet whom they have thrown into the cistern; and he will die right where he is because of the famine, for there is ^(A)no more bread in the city.”

¹⁶ Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, behold, I am going to ^(A)break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they will eat bread by ^(B)weight and with anxiety, and drink water by ^(C)measure and in horror,

¹⁶ When I send against them the ^[a]deadly arrows of famine which ^[b]were for the destruction of those whom I will send to destroy you, then I will also intensify the famine upon you and break off your ^[c]provision of bread.

¹³ “Son of man, if a country sins against Me by ^(A)being unfaithful, and I stretch out My hand against it, ^[a]destroy its ^(B)supply of bread, send famine against it, and eliminate from it both human and animal life,
