¹⁸ However, in a particular matter may the Lord pardon your servant: When my master, the king of Aram, goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship and I, as his right-hand man,^[a](A) bow in the temple of Rimmon—when I bow^[b] in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord pardon your servant in this matter.”

¹⁷ The king had appointed the captain, his right-hand man,^(A) to be in charge of the gate, but the people trampled him in the gateway. He died, just as the man of God had predicted when the king came to him.
