¹² Hazael said, “Why does my lord weep?” Then he ^[a]answered, “Because ^(A)I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you ^(B)will dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up.”

^3 (A)So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He gave them continually into the hand of ^(B)Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of ^(C)Ben-hadad the son of Hazael.

²² Now ^(A)Hazael king of Aram had oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
