⁶ When the Ammonites saw that they had become a stench to David, the Ammonites sent and hired the Syrians of ^(A)Beth-rehob, and ^(B)the Syrians of Zobah, 20,000 foot soldiers, and the king of ^(C)Maacah with 1,000 men, and the men of ^(D)Tob, 12,000 men.

³ Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of ^(A)Tob, and ^(B)worthless fellows collected around Jephthah and went out with him.

⁵ And when the Ammonites made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah from the land of ^(A)Tob.
