GOD’S WORD Translation
23 But why should I fast now that he’s dead? Can I bring him back? ⌞Someday⌟ I’ll go to him, but he won’t come back to me.”
24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba. He went to bed with her, and she later gave birth to a son. David named him Solomon. The Lord loved the child 25 and sent a message through the prophet Nathan to name the baby Jedidiah [The Lord’s Beloved].

23 But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him,(A) but he will not return to me.”(B)
24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba,(C) and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon.(D) The Lord loved him; 25 and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.[a](E)
