⁷ Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!^(A) This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed^(B) you^(C) king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.

¹³ Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned^(A) against the Lord.”

Nathan replied, “The Lord has taken away^(B) your sin.^(C) You are not going to die.^(D)

¹⁵ After Nathan had gone home, the Lord struck^(A) the child that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.

²⁵ and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.^[a](A)

² he said to Nathan^(A) the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house^(B) of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent.”^(C)

⁴ But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

¹⁷ Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

¹⁰ but he did not invite^(A) Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the special guard or his brother Solomon.^(B)

²² While she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet arrived.

³⁴ There have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint^(A) him king over Israel. Blow the trumpet^(B) and shout, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
