²⁸ Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying, “See now, ^(A)when Amnon’s heart is cheerful with wine, and I say to you, ‘Strike Amnon,’ then put him to death. Do not fear; have I not commanded you myself? Be courageous and be ^[a]valiant.”

¹⁴ Then Joab said, “I will not ^[a]waste time here with you.” ^(A)So he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through the heart of Absalom while he was still alive in the ^[b]midst of the oak.

²⁵ Then King Solomon ^(A)sent the order by Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he ^[a]struck him so that he died.
