11 Two hundred men from Jerusalem went with Absalom as invited guests, going in their innocence as they did not know anything. 12 Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, the advisor of David, from his city Giloh, while he offered the sacrifices. The conspiracy grew in strength,[a] and the people were going and increasing[b] with Absalom.

13 Then the messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts[c] of the men of Israel have gone after Absalom.”

They had been invited as guests and went quite innocently, knowing nothing about the matter. 12 While Absalom was offering sacrifices, he also sent for Ahithophel(A) the Gilonite, David’s counselor,(B) to come from Giloh,(C) his hometown. And so the conspiracy gained strength, and Absalom’s following kept on increasing.(D)
