12 While Absalom was offering the sacrifices, he sent for[a] Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city Giloh. The conspiracy grew in strength, and the people with Absalom kept increasing.(A)

David Flees from Jerusalem

13 A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the Israelites have gone after Absalom.”(B) 14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him at Jerusalem, “Get up! Let us flee, or there will be no escape for us from Absalom. Hurry, or he will soon overtake us, and bring disaster down upon us, and attack the city with the edge of the sword.”(C)

14 Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem, “Come! We must flee,(E) or none of us will escape from Absalom.(F) We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.”
