16 So the king left, accompanied by all his family and officials, except for ten concubines, whom he left behind to take care of the palace.
17 As the king and all his men were leaving the city, they stopped at the last house. 18 All his officials stood[a] next to him as the royal bodyguards passed by in front of him. The six hundred soldiers who had followed him from Gath also passed by,

16 The king set out, with his entire household following him; but he left ten concubines(A) to take care of the palace. 17 So the king set out, with all the people following him, and they halted at the edge of the city. 18 All his men marched past him, along with all the Kerethites(B) and Pelethites; and all the six hundred Gittites who had accompanied him from Gath marched before the king.
