17 The king left, and all the people [a]with him, and they stopped at the last house. 18 Now all of his servants passed by beside him, and (A)all the Cherethites, all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, (B)six hundred men who had come [b]with him from Gath, passed by before the king.
19 Then the king said to (C)Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you go with us too? Return and stay with [c]your king, since you are a foreigner and an exile as well; return to your own place.

17 So the king set out, with all the people following him, and they halted at the edge of the city. 18 All his men marched past him, along with all the Kerethites(A) and Pelethites; and all the six hundred Gittites who had accompanied him from Gath marched before the king.
19 The king said to Ittai(B) the Gittite, “Why should you come along with us? Go back and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner,(C) an exile from your homeland.
