2 Samuel 18:11-13
1599 Geneva Bible
11 Then Joab said unto the man that told him, And hast thou indeed seen? why then didst thou not there smite him to the ground, and I would have given thee ten (A)shekels of silver, and a girdle?
12 Then the man said unto Joab, Though I should [a]receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not lay mine hand upon the King’s son: for in our hearing the King charged thee, and Abishai, and Ittai, saying, Beware, lest any touch the young man Absalom.
13 If I had done it, it had been [b]the danger of my life: for nothing can be hid from the King: yea, thou thyself wouldest have been against me.

2 Samuel 18:11-13
New International Version
11 Joab said to the man who had told him this, “What! You saw him? Why didn’t you strike(A) him to the ground right there? Then I would have had to give you ten shekels[a] of silver and a warrior’s belt.(B)”
12 But the man replied, “Even if a thousand shekels[b] were weighed out into my hands, I would not lay a hand on the king’s son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, ‘Protect the young man Absalom for my sake.[c]’ 13 And if I had put my life in jeopardy[d]—and nothing is hidden from the king(C)—you would have kept your distance from me.”
