3 David brought his army[a] with him, each soldier accompanied by his household, and they settled in the cities of Hebron. 4 After this, the army of Judah arrived, and they anointed David king over the house of Judah.
There they informed David, “The men of Jabesh-gilead buried Saul.”
5 So David sent messengers to the people[b] of Jabesh-gilead and told them, “May the Lord bless you, because you showed gracious love like[c] this to your lord Saul by burying him.

3 David also took the men who were with him,(A) each with his family, and they settled in Hebron(B) and its towns. 4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron,(C) and there they anointed(D) David king over the tribe of Judah.
When David was told that it was the men from Jabesh Gilead(E) who had buried Saul, 5 he sent messengers to them to say to them, “The Lord bless(F) you for showing this kindness to Saul your master by burying him.
