let seven men from his sons be given to us, and we will [a]hang them (A)before the Lord in Gibeah of Saul, (B)the chosen of the Lord.” And the king said, “I will give them.”

But the king spared (C)Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, (D)because of the oath of the Lord which was between them, between David and Saul’s son Jonathan. So the king took the two sons of (E)Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, Armoni and Mephibosheth whom she had borne to Saul, and the five sons of [b](F)Merab the daughter of Saul, whom she had borne to Adriel the son of Barzillai the (G)Meholathite. Then he handed them over to the Gibeonites, and they [c]hanged them on the mountain before the Lord, so that the seven of them fell together; and they were put to death in the first days of harvest at (H)the beginning of barley harvest.

But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah’s daughter Rizpah,(E) whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul’s daughter Merab,[a] whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.(F) He handed them over to the Gibeonites, who killed them and exposed their bodies on a hill before the Lord. All seven of them fell together; they were put to death(G) during the first days of the harvest, just as the barley harvest was beginning.(H)
