12 Abner sent messengers to David where he was,[c] saying, “To whom does the land belong? Make your covenant with me![d] Look, my hand is with you to bring all of Israel over to you!” 13 He[e] said, “Good. I will make a covenant with you.[f] I am asking only one thing from you: You shall not see my face unless you bring Michal the daughter of Saul when you come to see me.”[g]

13 “Good,” said David. “I will make an agreement with you. But I demand one thing of you: Do not come into my presence unless you bring Michal daughter of Saul when you come to see me.”(A)
