¹³ After he left Hebron, David took more concubines and wives^(A) in Jerusalem, and more sons and daughters were born to him.

¹¹ “This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household^(A) I am going to bring calamity on you.^(B) Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will sleep with your wives in broad daylight.^(C)

³ He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines,^(A) and his wives led him astray.^{(B) 4} As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods,^(C) and his heart was not fully devoted^(D) to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.
