The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem

¹² Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” ^(A)David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into ^(B)the city of David with gladness. ¹³ And so it was, that when the ^(C)bearers of the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ^(D)ox and a fatling. ¹⁴ And ^(E)David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, and David was ^[a](F)wearing a linen ephod. ¹⁵ So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouting and the sound of the trumpet.

¹⁶ Then it happened as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David that ^(G)Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.

¹⁷ So they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it ^(H)in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and ^(I)David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

^25 (A)So it was David, with the elders of Israel and the captains over thousands, who went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from ^(B)the house of Obed-edom with joy. ²⁶ Because God was helping the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they sacrificed ^(C)seven bulls and seven rams. ²⁷ Now David was clothed with a robe of fine linen with all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers and Chenaniah the leader of the singing with the singers. ^(D)David also wore an ephod of linen. ²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the horn, with trumpets, with loud-sounding cymbals, with harps and lyres.

²⁹ It happened when the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that ^(E)Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and celebrating; and she despised him in her heart.
