6 ¶ (A)And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put his hand to the Ark of God, and held it: for the oxen did shake it.
7 And the Lord was very wroth with Uzzah, and God [a]smote him in the same place for his fault, and there he died by the Ark of God.
8 And David was displeased because the Lord had [b]smitten Uzzah: and he called the name of the place [c]Perez Uzzah until this day.

New International Version
6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of(A) the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act;(B) therefore God struck him down,(C) and he died there beside the ark of God.
8 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath(D) had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.[a](E)
